Development of Fingerprint Recognition System Using Minutiae Point Method with Matlab

This research aims to develop a fingerprint recognition system utilizing the minutiae point method to enhance recognition performance. The study involves several image processing operations, specifically binarization (masking extraction), thinning extraction, and minutiae extraction. The results indicate that minutiae points can be effectively used for fingerprint recognition systems. This is evidenced by a sufficiently high matching rate (above 40%) for fingerprint images from the same individual with different angular variations, whereas the matching rate for fingerprints from different individuals remains significantly lower (below 40%).
